How Western State Pizza came to be

The roots of WSP lie in Western State Investments, which was an investment club started by our ownership team as they graduated from college at Western Michigan and Michigan State Universities. These lifelong friendships have endured over decades and now work as a team to bring Detroit-style pizza to the greater Seattle area.

The idea was first discussed aboard M/V Voyager out of Anacortes Yacht Charters, moored to a state dock in the San Juan Islands for the night. It was the team's annual meeting in 2021, an opportunity to get together once a year and discuss the direction of the company. One of the team, Chris, had lived in West Seattle and Ballard for years, and the guys knew there would be a thirst for Jet's Pizza in the area if they could make it happen.

Tony, our now CEO, was the director of a division at a company deeply involved in offshoring some of their American jobs and he no longer wanted to be a part of that. He decided to move across the country, instead create American jobs, and bring the world's best Detroit-style pizza to the people of the greater Seattle area.

WSP's first location opened in Lynnwood, WA as Jet's Pizza WA-001, the westernmost restaurant in the company. The team continues to work together to bring this amazing culinary offering to the rest of the Seattle metropolitan area.
